Invisalign Q&A

Do you have crooked or misaligned teeth? Are you looking for a comfortable way to straighten your smile? Try Invisalign. Invisalign is a cosmetic dental treatment that uses clear aligners to realign teeth. Unlike other orthodontic options, Invisalign does not require frequent adjustments. Additionally, Invisalign offers patients the freedom to remove their aligners to eat the foods they love. Here you can learn more about Invisalign treatment in our Annapolis, MD office. We welcome patients to ask any questions they have about treatment or voice their cosmetic goals to us at their next consultation.

Invisalign FAQs

Are you interested in Invisalign but want to know more? Read the answers to popular questions patients have about Invisalign treatment:

What are the benefits of Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign is an excellent alternative to metal braces. Because Invisalign aligners are removable, patients can thoroughly clean their teeth and gums as well as eat without dietary restrictions. The aligners are also clear and discreetly blend in with the smile. Metal braces and other orthodontic treatments require regular maintenance, which can be painful. New wires can poke and irritate the gums. Alternatively, Invisalign aligners are custom-made for each patient. The aligners conform to the smile and only take some time to get used to.

How long is Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign treatment can take anywhere from 6 to 15 months. Your own treatment time will depend on how you care for your aligners. We recommend that patients wear their aligners for 22 hours a day. This means that patients will need to wear their aligners to sleep. However, patients can also remove Invisalign to eat or drink foods and beverages other than water. Overall, patients will spend less time in the dental chair. Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners do not require routine adjustment. Patients switch out their aligners every two weeks for a new pair.

Am I a candidate for Invisalign?

We recommend Invisalign for teenagers and adults. Unlike braces, Invisalign requires that patients care for their aligners. Patients need to clean their aligners and keep them intact during treatment. We also recommend Invisalign aligners for patients with mild to moderate orthodontic needs. Braces and other types of orthodontic treatments can address more severe problems.

How much is Invisalign?

Like many other orthodontic treatments, Invisalign treatment varies from patient to patient. Typically Invisalign is less expensive than traditional metal braces. Schedule a dental consultation with us and we will give you an estimate of the total cost of your Invisalign treatment. The severity of your crooked teeth is the top factor in Invisalign cost, as it will take more aligners to complete your treatment.
