Patient Safety & Infection Control Annapolis Dentist Office

Drs. Lee, Bonfiglio, and Associates place the health and safety of our patients as the highest priority in our Annapolis dental office. As we reopen after the COVID-19 quarantine we will be adding some new procedures to further enhance our high standard of infection control. These protocols are for the ongoing prevention of the spread of disease, especially the coronavirus.

We will keep these measures in place for as long as we deem necessary to offer the best possible protection for both patients and staff while providing our dental services.

COVID-19 Infection Control Protocols: what to expect

We ask that if you are sick or have been exposed to the coronavirus that you call our office to reschedule your appointment. If you have recently traveled please wait at least 14 days after returning before visiting our office. These rules will remain in place until it is no longer a recommendation of the CDC or any local governing bodies and are designed to protect all patients and staff.

Our new infection control and patient safety procedural changes begin when you enter our waiting room. We will be staggering our appointments to minimize the number of patients in our office and screening all patients upon arrival. We will be taking more time between patients to disinfect ALL surfaces and this will be an ongoing process throughout the office each day.

As a dentist, we have always followed all guidelines and regulations for office safety according to ASHA and the CDC. We will continue to do so and to also meet and exceed the recent recommendations for protection against the coronavirus.

Our staff is trained on the proper use of additional PPE which will be worn in our office when treating patients. You will notice a change in how we look- please don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have about our new protocols.

Air Filtration

We are adding medical grade air filtration that can capture 99.9% of particles. This will improve the air quality in our dental office and minimize the spread of germs of any kind.

ISOLITE Aerosol Reduction System
Our office uses the Isolite dental isolation system when performing a wide range of treatments and procedures where there is a risk of an increased aerosol of fluids. A comfortable mouthpiece is put in place to isolate saliva and other fluids. Isolite is a convenient chairside system that can be rapidly deployed when needed.

DryShield

Another chairside system for isolating aerosols when performing dental hygiene is called DryShield. Easily placed in the mouth, DryShield offers additional protection against the spread of infection.

Purevac® HVE System

A high volume aerosol evacuation system used for dental exams and cleanings, this handheld device can allow for easy viewing with a mirrored and illuminated tip that also pulls aerosols in as your hygienist or dentist performs common oral hygiene treatments.
