Annapolis Dental Services
Concern for our patients is our top priority. Therefore, we want to stress the importance of regular dental check-ups to aid you in keeping your smile for a lifetime.
At these visits, we conduct a comprehensive oral examination, including screening for oral cancer. We chart the periodontal condition, take appropriate radiographs, do a prophylaxis (cleaning and polishing), and provide thorough oral hygiene and home care instructions. This is all done to help maintain optimal long-term oral health.
General Dentistry
- Dental Cleanings: Oral disease prevention is the foundation for great long-term dental health. We recommend that patients come in for a professional grade cleaning at least once every six months. This gives us an opportunity to examine your oral health and make sure that there are no underlying concerns. To learn more about cleanings in our office, see Dental Cleanings.
- Dental Fillings: Fill your cavities before they require root canals. Fillings are generally comprised of composite resin. The process for a filling is virtually painless, as we numb the area before we begin. To learn more about dental fillings, see Dental Fillings.
- Emergency Dental Care: If your mouth has experienced an accident, or a tooth has fallen out unexpectedly, call us immediately, as the sooner we treat your dental emergency, the less likely it is to cause further complications. The most common dental emergencies are toothaches, broken teeth, or a tooth being knocked out. To learn more about dental emergencies, see Emergency Dentistry.
- Root Canals: Address severe tooth pain and infection with a pain-free root canal procedure in Annapolis. Most people think of root canals as being a very complex and painful procedure. In our office root canals can be completed in two appointments, and sedation dentistry allows for the entire procedure to be pain free and simple! To learn more about root canals, see Root Canals.
- Tooth Extractions: Does your child have a loose tooth? Bring them in to get evaluated. We might be able to save your loose tooth with early treatment. Tooth extractions can be done in our office. With the use of anesthetic, a tooth extraction can be virtually painless. To learn more about tooth extractions, see Tooth Extractions.
- Periodontal Therapy: Bleeding gums and gingivitis are serious implications of bad gums and periodontal disease. Get treatment to alleviate symptoms today. If not treated gingivitis can progress into advanced periodontitis very quickly. This can result in tooth loss, and life threatening health issues such as heart disease. To learn more about treating gum disease, see Periodontal Therapy.

This is a discrete way to treat crooked teeth, that works quickly compared to other orthodontic treatments. To learn more about Invisalign treatment, see Invisalign.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I get professional teeth cleaning?
You should have your teeth professionally cleaned every six months. Regular cleanings help prevent plaque buildup, cavities, and gum disease. You should also brush twice a day and floss daily, which complements these cleanings.
How long do dental fillings last?
Dental fillings can last many years. Their lifespan, however, depends on several factors. Typically, amalgam (silver) fillings last about 10 to 15 years. On the other hand, composite (tooth-colored) fillings last around 5 to 7 years. Good oral hygiene and bi-yearly dental check-ups can help extend the life of your fillings. Lastly, fillings can wear down, chip, or crack over time due to the forces of chewing.
How painful is getting porcelain veneers?
Getting porcelain veneers is usually not very painful. Most dentist will numb the area with local anesthesia to ensure you don’t feel discomfort during the procedure. Some people might feel minor sensitivity after the process. This sensitivity usually fades within a few days.
How long do you have to wear Invisalign?
For most patients, the duration of Invisalign treatment varies based on individual needs. However, the standard range is 12 to 18 months. Some cases might take as little as six months, while more complex adjustments could take up to 24 months. You’ll need to wear the aligners for 20-22 hours a day to achieve the best results.
Are dental implants a permanent solution for tooth loss?
Yes, dental implants are a permanent solution for tooth loss. They integrate with your jawbone, providing a stable and durable foundation for replacement teeth. With proper oral care hygiene, they can last many years, often a lifetime. Unlike dentures or bridges, implants mimic the function and appearance of natural teeth.
Do dental implants stain?
Dental implants themselves do not stain like natural teeth. The crowns that attach to the implants contain porcelain or ceramic, which are resistant to staining. However, they can pick up surface stains from foods, drinks, and smoking over time. Good oral hygiene and dental cleanings can help them to look their best. If stains occur, a dentist can polish the surface to restore its appearance.
